Claude Tissier

Born in 1946 in Paris, Claude Tissier has studied direction, set design and lighting design at the National Theater School of Montreal in Quebec. He has been involved in many different productions in Opera, Dance, Musical, Theater and Cabaret.

In the field of Opera, he has designed the lights for : Tristan und Isold - Parsifal (Lyon Opera), Das Rheingold (La Monnaie of Brussels), Carmen - La Damnation de Faust (Herod Atticus Athens Festival), La vie Parisienne and L’Italiana in Algeri (Chatelet Theatre Musical de Paris), Fire Angel (Grand Theatre de Geneve, De Nederlandse Opera, Paris Bastille Opera), Don Carlo (Bologna Opera - Grand Theatre de Geneve), Jeanne au bûcher – Le Nozze di Figaro (Grand Theatre de Geneve) The House of the Dead (Paris Opera), Othello (Festival of Orange).

In the field of dance, he has worked with the Paris Opera Choreography Research Group (GRCOP), the Ballet of Lyon, l’Aterbaletto, the Ballet of Paris Opera directed by Rudolf Noureev (Washington Square, Swan Lake), the Ballet of Palermo Opera (Das Lied von der Erde, Carmina Burana, Romeo et Juliette, Verdi's Requiem) and the Ballet of Grand Theatre of Geneva (Scheherazade, Mathis der maler, Per Gynt, Child Alice).

His collaboration with Maurice Bejart begins in 1975 for the Ballet of the «XX siècle » with Aqua Alta and Heliogabal at the Scala of Milan. It is renewed ten years later with « Le Concours » and continues with « Operetta » (Stuttgart Ballet), Die Fledermaus (La Monnaie of Brussels), Le Martyre de Saint (La Scala di Milano – Salzbourg Festival), Mouvement, Rythme and Etude and Arepo, his latest productions for the Ballet of Paris Opera.

In 1989 he joined the design and construction team building EuroDisneyland and he is promoted Senior Artistic Producer in 1992 and Director of the Creative Development in 1999.

In 2001 he joined the Cirque du Soleil in Montreal as Vice President of Creation, managing the all artistic teams of all the Cirque productions.

Definitely oriented in production and new major projects, he becomes an international Consultant in 2004 for various productions.

His latest project as Creation director and Project leader is « The House of the Dancing water », a $280 million production opened on September 2010 in Macau.
